Instructions for Using Infrared Sensors

The following are key notes regarding the use of infrared sensors:

1. The sensor requires a 1-minute warm-up period. Do not communicate with the sensor during this time. It will only operate normally after the warm-up period (60 seconds).

2. The sensor’s power supply must be less than 5V. Low-voltage power helps protect the sensor. Do not reverse the positive and negative terminals. For fixed meter production, it is recommended to install a protection circuit in the circuit to prevent sensor damage due to voltages exceeding 5V.

3. Do not solder or cut the sensor pins. The company will provide pin sockets, which your company can solder to the circuit board. During testing, simply insert the sensor pins into the corresponding sockets. For first-time sensor purchasers, our company will also provide a green fixing plate to secure the pin sockets.

4. ltage output and serial port (UART) output. Digital signal acquisition allows direct calibration of the sensor. Long-term use requires regular calibration of both the zero point and sensitivity.

5. When acquiring digital signals, set the time interval to 1 second. If the interval is too short, "zeroing" (abnormal zero readings) may occur, partly because the sensor has not yet generated output data.

6. The sensor uses two-point calibration (zero point and sensitivity). Depending on the measurement range, select two calibration points for sensitivity calibration. The calibration gas cap must have both inlet and outlet holes. Since infrared detection does not consume gas, an outlet is mandatory, and the internal volume of the gas cap should be minimized. To achieve accurate results, ensure the gas cap is fully filled with calibration gas. A smaller gas cap helps save calibration gas.

7. When designing the product structure, consider protecting the sensor’s air-permeable membrane or explosion-proof filter from blockage by oil stains or other contaminants. Suggested measures:

· Add a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) filter membrane for water resistance (prevents water from splashing into the sensor).

· Install a dust-proof cover for enhanced dust protection.

Each sensor comes with a standard waterproof breathable membrane pre-attached to the air inlet for first-time purchases. Do not remove this membrane.
